Import a text file
You can create a new sitemap by simply importing a text file from your computer.
The text file can be formatted using a dash hierarchy, ensuring that when it’s imported, the pages on your sitemap are displayed in the correct order and properly categorized and nested. See the example below.
:: Home Page ++ Utility Page 1 ++ Utility Page 2 ++ Utility Page 3 Top Level Page -- Second Level Page (Child of Top Level) ---- Third Level Page (Child of Second Level) ------ Forth Level Page (Child of Third Level) Top Level Page -- Second Level Page -- Second Level Page ---- Third Level Page ---- Third Level Page ---- Third Level Page -- Second Level Page -- Second Level Page >> Footer Page 1 >> Footer Page 2
Either copy and paste the example above into a .txt file or download our sample file to get started.
- In Slickplan, open an existing project or create a new one.
- Click the Import icon in the navigation bar (this will overwrite your current sitemap).
- In the import panel, select the Text file tab.
- Drag your file into the drop zone or click Select file to upload it from your computer. Alternatively, choose the Copy and paste contents tab to paste the file content into the text area.
- Click Import to complete the process.
Note: Top-level pages cannot have dashes before their names. Child-level pages should be indented with an even number of dashes: 2 dashes for the second level (–) and 4 dashes for the third level (—-). Remember to include a space after the dashes before the page name.
