As I create sitemaps with Slickplan I’m taking advantage of the page and text colors in order to identify certain things with our site pages (e.g. page color to denote which CMS a page is on). I’d like to be able to add a key to the site map (text) which defines what the colors denote. How can I do that?

Hi Jordan,
Have you tried using our Page Type feature to define your pages? I think this would do exactly what you're looking to do. There are pre-built page types and there is also the ability to create your own custom ones. Try reading this help page about custom page types and see if that solves your issue. If you're looking for something else please elaborate more and we'll see what we can do to improve the system.

Thanks Ian. I'm using custom page types but I'm interested in a key/notes field at the sitemap level explaining the use of colors, or custom page types that viewers can see at a glance. Something like the attached circled area.

Hi Ian,
Just want to see if there's any update re: the ability to add a legend to the sitemap. Hopefully it got on a roadmap. I've just shared my first set of slickplan sitemaps with my user experience design team, which they all appreciated, yet adding a legend to provide a key to colors used/decisions made in the sitemap was my boss' initial response. Thanks again.

I like the ideas! Especially the legend, that would be a big improvement. I'm talking it over with the team and we'll definitely try to integrate a solution soon. Thanks for the comment and sharing the graphic; We always appreciate great ideas and feedback from our customers :)

Hi Ian,
Like Jordan, I use custom page types too, but it seems like it would be a lot more work than color coordinating for what I'm trying to do. Plus, clients and sales teams are very visual, and the icons just don't give them that "quick view" compared to colors. When I say the "Green color is the content you currently have on your website and there are 10 pages," they can visually see it quickly and makes the conversation go smoothly.
For me, I use the colors to denote the different phases I'm recommending. For example, not all client budgets allow for every page at the time of build, so I use the colors to show what they currently have, what I recommend for launch, and what I recommend being added ongoing in either a phase approach or through an SEO plan. What Jordan shows is exactly what would be helpful for me too.
Thank you!
